Hiking Mount Rinjani Closed From 1 January to 31 March 2024

The Mount Rinjani National Park Agency (TNGR) announced that climbing Mount Rinjani will be closed from 1 January to 31 March 2024. The announcement was contained in a letter signed by the Head of TNGR dated 27 December 2024 with Number: PG. 29/T.39/TU/KSA/12/2023. Dedy revealed that the closure of the Rinjani climb was in the framework of restoring the ecosystem in the Mount Rinjani National Park area as well as information on weather forecasts from the Meteorology Geophysics Agency, Mataram class I climatology station.

The Meteorology and Geophysics Agency analyzed that currently the rainfall is high and there is a potential for strong winds and heavy rain. All climbing tourist destinations for Mount Rinjani National Park, totaling 6 entrances, will begin to close on January 1. “Senaru, Sembalun and Torean Hiking Tour Routes in North Lombok Regency. Sembalun, Timbanuh, Tetebatu Hiking Tour Routes in East Lombok Regency and Aik Berik Hiking Tourism Trails in Central Lombok Regency are closed from 1 January 2023 to 31 March 2024,” for climbers who are still on the ascent or who will start climbing on December 31, are given the opportunity to go down the mountain no later than January 3.

“For visitors who will carry out climbing activities on December 31, 2024 are required to immediately check out a maximum of January 3, 2024 at each climbing gate,”. In addition to climbing Mount Rinjani, non-climbing natural tourist destinations in Mount Rinjani National Park will also be closed from 8 October 2023 to 31 March 2024. The non-climbing tourist sites that 4will also be closed are Jeruk Manis Waterfall, Mayung Polak Waterfall in the Regency. East Lombok, and Mangku Sakti Waterfall in North Lombok Regency.

If anyone offers you a trekking trip to Rinjani during a closed period it means ILLEGAL with deportation penalty.

Mount Rinjani Closed to the public due to Marathon Rinjani100 8th Edition

After 3 years postponed, International Race event in Rinjani Mountain RINJANI100 will be held again this year.

Take place starting 26 – 28 May’ 2024

According to Rinjani100’s website, it is already more than thousand runner from 29 country has been registered and confirmed to be join the event. There for, Mountain Rinjani is closed for public starting 26th – 28th of May 2023. The last enter on all gate for public is May 26th, 2024 otherwise have to wait until May 29th. 2024

Mount Rinjani National Park in West Nusa Tenggara, a popular destination for hikers, will be closed for three months from 1 January to 31 March 2024 to “restore its ecosystem or conserve nature” announced by the management of the Gunung Rinjani National Park, Mount Rinjani will reopen on early April 2024
